Hey January! Lets Make some People Smile
Well, let you start to know about me. I am committed and
passionate about making a lasting difference for social public services and
comfortable working in a challenging environment like helping and supporting other poor people to get good health and well-being,
quality education, improving sanitation and hygiene in crowded urban or rural
areas, protect the planet, etc. It all just a simple reason is to make the
people smile by doing something positive. This the key points to me to always
looking for and join the social event activities, seminar, and volunteer.
Now, I am a volunteer in Sobat LemINA (Lembaga Mitra Ibu dan Anak)
community in Makassar. Nulis Bareng Sobat (NBS), Nulis Blog Relawan, Seragam
Tuk Sobat, Aku Sayang Badanku (ASB) are just a few of the inspiring programmes
run by Sobat LemINA. These programs hope could bring the positive contribution
for better Indonesia especially South Sulawesi areas. For this year, I can't
wait to get more experiences for four great events of LemINA such as Children Festival 2017, Workshop Human Interest Story, Volunteer Camp and Workshop Photo Story. I am super excited
about those annual programs because of its great fit
for what I have been interested in throughout my life.
By following these LemINA’s programs allow and teach
me about how to build good communication, time management, leadership skill
and of course push me as confidence person, good writer, and get full of good
knowledge so far. For examples in the third weeks on January 19, 2017, Sobat LemINA was doing “Kampanye Cuci Tangan Pakai Sabun”
with 300 elementary students in Takalar regency supported by UNICEF. There, I took special notice that how washing hands
correctly with soap and water can prevent skin and eye infections, intestinal worms,
reduce illness in people whose immune
systems are compromised etc. I look like
I was having so much fun to help the students that day.
Then for the next ASB program in Masamba on 25-26 January, I have to be confident and tried to give the students who were coming the feeling that I was in control the class even I know that my knees and cheek maybe little were shaking at the time (he he). Do you know why?
Because it was the
first time I acted as storyteller. Using a strong and confident voice,
making my gestures easy and calm were the most important thing I have to do in order the student
listened and got the message of the story which focus on a sexual violence prevention
education. But it seemed like an amazing adventure at the moment– what
was going to happen to these students in the class? The class was hanging on my
every word. They can answer all the questions related the story and I was
totally happy. It’s true that the more you volunteer the more benefits
you’ll experience. Giving in even simple
ways can help others those in need and improve your happiness.
